“Carrying the Cross Can Change a Messy World”

What I wanted to express with my work is that carrying the cross for Jesus can be messy, hard work in this world. Jesus asked us to love our neighbors without exception, both locally and to the ends of the earth. He told us how to do it … feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, clothe them, heal them, visit the lonely and imprisoned.

It is a difficult task that can sometimes seem overwhelming but being part of a congregation that is focused on loving our neighbors allows us to see the amazing imprint that carrying the cross can make. It may look like VBS or a house in Mexico, endless thanks from strangers for food at Community Table, a simple card or note that says you care, or numerous small groups that support one another.  No matter how messy the world is, sharing ourselves and our love has a visible impact, no matter how big or small.
