Station #10

Palo Christo (“Stick Christ”)

This crucifix is done in the ars povera style, or “poverty arts,” consisting of mostly found materials (tree branches). I will let the viewer discern the meaning here, but some phrases that come to mind: woven together, lost and found, trash to treasure, branches and vine. I especially like the way this looks at night, where shadow and light come into play and the skeletal nature of the crucified form is more evident.
