Our Annual Good Friday Art Show for 2023

Originally started in 2008, our yearly Stations of the Cross Art Walk has changed with the times and seasons of our community. It is our belief that the crucifixion, death, and resurrection is not something to be “scientifically analyzed” into an inflexible doctrine; rather, these moments in the life of Jesus reflect a bigger mystery: why would God choose to die on a cross? Whole books and churches have been built around “solving” this issue, but we feel that the meaning of the cross cannot be reduced to a single idea or concept. We do believe, however, that it is a symbol of God’s love for us.

This year’s show will focus on crossroads: where does our faith, our choices, and the choices of Jesus intersect with art?

• What does it mean to “stand at the crossroads?
• How does God work in our lives?
• What does it mean to “choose God?”
• Why did Jesus choose the cross?

This is an open forum with no set scriptures. The focus is on the “Passion Narrative” as found in Matthew 26-27, Mark 14-15, Luke 22-23, and John 18-19.
